My 2017 Bucket List

2017 is almost upon us, and I’ve already seen a handful of people planning their New Years resolutions. I’ve tried to keep and stick to them, failed, tried again, failed again, over and over, and now I’ve kinda just given up altogether.

Instead, I’ve compiled a 2017 Bucket List of things I want to see/do/accomplish next year:

Go skiing: I have never skied. Ideally, I’d love to visit Austria and go skiing properly, but we’ve already booked and paid for our holiday next year, so it’s a little bit out of our budget now. Luckily there’s an artificial ski slope just outside Norwich that we can visit and practice up until the real deal.

Take dance lessons with Chris: I used to dance latin and ballroom once upon a time in my teens and it’s something I really miss. Funnily enough when compiling this list, this was one of Chris’s ideas, so naturally I jumped at the chance to add this to my 2017 bucket list!

Visit a hedge maze: One of a few things I’ve always wanted to do since I was a kid is visit (and hopefully complete!) a hedge maze. Somerleyton Hall and Gardens in Suffolk is the ideal place for us, and there’s even room for a spot of afternoon tea afterwards.

Go to the theater: I am ashamed to say I haven’t been to the theater since I was 13 years old and I saw Billy Elliot in London. The Theater Royal in Norwich is a beautiful venue with a wide variety of shows, so I really need to get my arse into gear and get myself down there.

Take a ghost tour: I went on a ghost walk a long, long time ago, and now I’m living in Norwich, it’s such an insightful way to learn about the history and legends of the city. Let’s just hope I’m not too much of a scaredy cat!

Go Geocaching: Another one on my list that I have never ever tried, but have heard sooo much about it. Basically it’s like a treasure hunt that anyone can go on at any time you want using GPS and solving clues to get to find your treasure. Sounds fun right? You can learn more about Geocaching here.

Spend a day at the seaside: I only live 40 minutes away from Great Yarmouth, but I never seem to set the time aside to go and enjoy it properly. But next year, I’m taking a day to do the whole tourist thing: chips on the seafront, paddle in the water, fresh doughnuts, and of course spend all my 2ps in the arcades!

Visit a museum: The National History Museum, The Science Museum, The National Gallery – I haven’t decided which one I want to visit more! I’m 25 years old and have never been to any of the big museums here in England, so this definitely is a must next year.

Spend a weekend in London: Again, I’m 25 years old and have only been to London twice in my entire life. (For those of you who are unaware – I grew up abroad!) Once to visit Madame Tussauds and to watch Billy Elliot, and once for a training day with work (which doesn’t really count). So this year I want to visit the London Eye, Camden Markets, shopping on Oxford Street… actually, a weekend might not be long enough…

Carve a pumpkin: Another one of my childhood dreams which have never been realised; and fuelled with inspiration from Pintrest, I’m putting this on my 2017 Bucket List for next year’s Halloween.

Run 5K: I’m not a serious health freak, or by any means keep fit on a regular basis, but this one is just a little personal goal I’d like to achieve next year. I’ve also found out that Gung-Ho is coming to Norwich next year which is a 5K obstacle course, so may be trying this instead of just a run.

Make a gingerbread house: Sadly I was too late to make one this year, but Kirstie Allsopp’s Handmade Christmas has definitely inspired me to have a go next year. Though I’m not quite at the level she was showcasing on the telly, so I might just start out with a Gingerbread House Kit from Amazon!

I’d love to hear what you’ve got planned for next year – let me know in the comments below!

Until next time!
